Gaius Petronius Arbiter[1] (; Classical Latin:[ˈɡaː.i.ʊspɛˈt̪roː.ni.ʊˈsar.bɪ.t̪ɛr]; c. 27 – c. AD 66; sometimes Titus Petronius Niger)[1] was a Romancourtier during the reign of Nero.
He is generally believed to be the author of the Satyricon, a satirical novel believed to have been written during the Neronian era (AD 54–68).
Petronius biography for kids
He is one of the most important characters in Henryk Sienkiewicz' historical novel Quo Vadis (1895). Leo Genn portrays him in the 1951 film of the same name.
